A morning journey to school turned into a nightmare in Karnataka's Belagavi district on Tuesday, resulting in the death of a young student and leaving two others with serious injuries. The tragic incident occurred when a cement-laden truck overturned unexpectedly, trapping the children beneath it.
Details of the Harugeri Road Tragedy
The accident took place near Harugeri in Raibag taluk. According to preliminary information, the truck was travelling from Kudachi towards Harugeri when the driver reportedly lost control on a bend. The vehicle overturned suddenly, giving no warning to the school children who were walking along the road at that time.
The students were tragically caught under the overturned truck and were unable to escape. The local community and passersby rushed to the scene in an attempt to rescue the victims from the wreckage.
Victims and Immediate Aftermath
The impact of the accident proved fatal for 11-year-old Amit Kamble, who died on the spot. The two other injured students were identified as 15-year-old Anjali Kamble and 14-year-old Avinash Kamble. Both sustained serious injuries in the horrifying collapse of the truck.
Emergency responders and locals worked quickly to extricate the injured children. They were immediately rushed to Harugeri Hospital for urgent medical treatment. The condition of the two injured students remains a cause for concern.
