Ramgarh: Seven persons, including two women, were arrested for their alleged involvement in the robbery of a jewellery store in Chitarpur on April 21, the police confirmed on Friday. The arrests were made by a special investigation team, which also recovered a significant quantity of gold and silver ornaments, firearms, live cartridges, a car, a motorcycle, and several mobile phones from the accused.
Details of the Robbery
The targeted jewellery store is situated on National Highway 23, which connects Dhanbad to Ranchi via Ramgarh and Bokaro, falling under the jurisdiction of the Rajrappa police station. Following the robbery, five of the suspects managed to escape, while two were apprehended by local residents shortly after the incident. The locals thrashed the two suspects before handing them over to the police. An official case was registered based on the statement provided by the shop owner, Vishnu Prasad, prompting a thorough investigation.
Recovered Items and Identification of Accused
The police have not yet disclosed the total value of the ornaments stolen during the heist. However, Ramgarh Superintendent of Police Mukesh Kumar revealed the identities of those arrested: Subhani Ansari (46), Anand Kumar (28), Manish Kumar (39), Reena Devi (35), Chandrawati Devi (55), Arbaz Ansari (24), and Nasrullah Ansari (26). Subhani is a resident of Ramgarh, while Manish, Reena, and Chandrawati hail from Nalanda in Bihar. Anand, Arbaz, and Nasrullah are residents of Ranchi. According to police, Subhani and Anand were caught by the crowd while attempting to flee.
The investigation is ongoing, with authorities working to determine the full extent of the robbery and any possible links to other criminal activities.
