Ganga Ram Dhaka, President of Sirsa Bar Association, emphasized that this attack represents an assault on the entire legal community, not just an individual practitioner. "When lawyers are attacked in this manner, it undermines the very foundation of our justice system," Dhaka stated during the protest.
Details of the Violent Incident
According to the official complaint, the disturbing incident occurred on January 17 when advocate Kewal Singh Kamboj became involved in a dispute regarding payment of professional fees. The accused, identified as Pramod Tak, allegedly made repeated phone calls to the lawyer, insisting on a meeting to resolve the matter.
When Kamboj went to meet Tak to discuss the pending payment, what began as a discussion quickly escalated into a heated argument. During the confrontation, Tak reportedly struck the lawyer on the head with a sharp-edged weapon, causing severe injuries that required immediate medical attention.
Disrupted Meeting and Broader Concerns
A delegation of lawyers had scheduled a meeting with the Superintendent of Police on Tuesday to discuss the case and demand swift action. However, this crucial meeting was unexpectedly canceled when news emerged about the tragic death of another lawyer and two family members, prompting legal professionals to leave immediately.
