Sitapur Home Invasion: Father and Son Shot in Pre-Dawn Attack, Critical Condition
In a horrifying incident that has sent shockwaves through the community, unidentified assailants shot a man and his 3-year-old son while they were asleep inside their home in Turani village, Sitapur, in the early hours of Sunday. Both victims, identified as 35-year-old Sunil Kumar and his son Abhay, are currently in critical condition, fighting for their lives in a nearby hospital.
Details of the Attack
According to officials, the attack occurred around 3 am when the perpetrators allegedly cut the electricity supply to the house, plunging the entire area into complete darkness. Taking advantage of the blackout, the assailants removed a tarpaulin that was tied to the entrance door, reportedly secured with bricks, and opened fire on the sleeping father and son. The sound of gunfire triggered widespread panic among villagers, who rushed out of their homes in fear and confusion.
Family and Police Response
Family members have expressed shock and disbelief, stating that the attack appeared to be premeditated, as the electric cable outside the house was deliberately severed before the shooting. Sunil's elder brother, Kishori Lal, emphasized that the family has no known enmity with anyone and was completely taken aback by the sudden and brutal assault. The injured father and child were immediately rushed to a nearby hospital, where doctors described their condition as critical, underscoring the severity of the injuries.
Investigation and Suspicions
During the ongoing investigation, police and forensic teams meticulously collected evidence from the crime scene. A room in a temple located approximately 100 metres from the house was discovered with a broken lock, and some ration and other items were reported missing. Villagers suspect that the attack may have been carried out with the intention of robbery, although police officials have stated that all possible angles are being thoroughly probed to determine the exact motive behind this heinous act.
Police Action and Updates
Station House Officer Mukesh Verma confirmed that multiple teams have been formed to trace the attackers, and questioning of local residents is currently underway. The police are leaving no stone unturned in their efforts to apprehend the culprits and bring them to justice.
