Surat: Tribal Farmer's Son Reunites with Family After 12 Years in Dang District
Emotional scenes unfolded in Vanachonda village of Waghai taluka in Dang district on Friday. The family of tribal farmer Chatur Chaudhary finally reunited with his son Ranjit, who is now 33 years old. This heartwarming moment came after a long and painful separation of 12 years.
Police Efforts Under Operation Milap Lead to Breakthrough
The Dang police successfully traced Ranjit to Gandhidham town in Kutch. They achieved this under Operation Milap, a special drive designed to locate and reunite missing persons. Ranjit expressed immense happiness upon seeing his family again. He had disappeared back in 2012 while he was pursuing his studies.
Details of the Disappearance and Search
Ranjit Chaudhary was just 21 years old when he went missing from Vapi. He was enrolled in a BBA course at a local college there. His disappearance occurred during his third semester. The family informed the police that he had gone missing from his hostel. His father, Chatur Chaudhary, subsequently lodged a formal missing person complaint at the Waghai police station.
For many years, the family searched tirelessly for Ranjit. They followed every possible lead but found no concrete clues. The case seemed to grow colder with each passing year.
How Police Cracked the Case
Recently, police officers reviewed old missing cases as part of Operation Milap. They re-examined records with fresh inputs and technological assistance. This renewed effort helped them trace Ranjit's current whereabouts to Gandhidham.
Dang district superintendent of police Pooja Yadav explained the process. She said, "Police gathered details about Ranjit through various available sources. This included speaking with family members and friends. Government records were also examined thoroughly."
Preliminary questioning revealed key details about Ranjit's state of mind before he left. Police said he had been upset after being repeatedly asked to focus more on his studies. This pressure apparently led him to leave home abruptly.
The reunion marks a significant success for Operation Milap. It brings hope to other families still searching for their missing loved ones across the region.
