Two Critically Injured in Hit-and-Run on Southern Peripheral Road
A speeding Baleno car ran over two men standing by the roadside in Gurugram's Sector 75 on Friday morning, leaving them critically injured. The three youths inside the vehicle fled the scene instead of helping the victims. The incident occurred around 6:09 a.m. on the Southern Peripheral Road (SPR), according to police.
The injured have been identified as Shankar Singh, a graphic designer from Noida, and another young man. They were waiting near a green belt between the roads when the car with a temporary registration number struck them. The impact threw both men into the air before they crashed to the ground. A video of the accident went viral on social media.
Victims Hospitalised, Unable to Give Statements
Bystanders rushed the injured to a hospital and informed the police. The victims are currently undergoing treatment and are not fit to provide statements. Police have registered an FIR at the Badshahpur police station.
After the collision, the three youths initially stepped out of the car and moved the injured to the side, then reversed the vehicle and sped away. CCTV cameras on nearby roads and intersections are being scanned to track them.
Police Pursuing Accused Through Surveillance
“An FIR has been registered, and we are searching for the three accused who fled in the car. We are scanning footage from CCTV cameras installed on nearby roads and at intersections. The injured are not fit to give a statement, and we are trying to nab the accused,” said Naveen Sharma, ACP Crime.
Authorities are urging anyone with information to come forward. The incident highlights the dangers of speeding on Gurugram's roads, which have seen multiple similar accidents.
