Faridabad police have arrested the stepfather of a three-year-old boy who was found dead with his throat slit in a rented accommodation in Faridabad's Shiv Durga Vihar area. The accused, identified as 23-year-old Sushant, was taken into custody on Tuesday and has confessed to the murder during interrogation.
Incident Details
The body of the child, identified as Aditya, was discovered on Sunday morning around 11:00 am lying on a bed with a deep throat injury and heavy blood stains. The Surajkund police station received the report and immediately sent the body for post-mortem examination.
According to police officials, Sushant married Sudha in a love marriage one year ago. Sudha had a three-year-old son from her first marriage. The accused intensely disliked the child, and Sudha's frequent visits to her mother's home to see her son led to constant bitter conflicts between the couple.
Sequence of Events
Investigations revealed that two to three days prior to the incident, the accused and his wife arrived at Shiv Durga Vihar. On the morning of June 21, seizing a lone opportunity, Sushant murdered the child by slitting his throat with a sharp knife. The stepfather then allegedly tried to mislead the investigation.
“Our investigation revealed that two or three days prior to the incident, the accused and his wife had arrived at Shiv Durga Vihar. We are currently questioning the accused further,” a senior police officer stated.
Police Action
Given the seriousness of the case, senior officers directed multiple teams from the Crime Branch to take swift action. The Crime Branch Sector 16 team made a major breakthrough and arrested the stepfather. “Police officers will produce him in a city court tomorrow,” said the official spokesperson of the Faridabad police.
The accused, a resident of SGM Nagar in Faridabad, is currently in police custody and further interrogation is underway to uncover any additional details or accomplices.
