Surat Suicide: Parents Record Statements, No Complaint

Surat: Police on Thursday recorded the statements of the parents of Khyati Kejriwal (28), who died by suicide at her residence on Ghod Dod Road on Tuesday evening. Khyati, wife of city-based industrialist Abhishek Kejriwal, hanged herself at their bungalow in the Subhashnagar society. The couple had married in February.

Khyati's parents arrived in Surat from Mumbai on Wednesday for her cremation, after which their statements were recorded. A police official said, "The parents told us they have no complaint against Abhishek or any member of his family. They also said Khyati had never told them about any harassment after the marriage."

With no immediate allegations from the family, investigators will now focus on forensic examination of Khyati's mobile phone, which has been sent to the Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) for analysis. Police also plan to speak with Khyati's friends and close acquaintances to find out whether she had shared any concerns or personal issues with them.
