SUV Driver Runs Over Man in Faridabad Suspected Informant

A 32-year-old man was deliberately run over by an SUV in Faridabad on Wednesday evening after the vehicle's occupants suspected him of being a police informant. The victim, identified as Shahnaz, a resident of Sirohi village, suffered multiple fractures and internal injuries and is currently in the intensive care unit of a local hospital.

Viral Video Captures Brutal Attack

A graphic video of the incident on Sirohi-Bijopur Road has circulated widely on social media, showing a black Scorpio SUV repeatedly ramming into Shahnaz as he attempted to flee. According to eyewitnesses, the assailants first assaulted Shahnaz with sticks and iron rods before chasing him in the vehicle. The impact pinned Shahnaz between the car's bonnet and a wall, which collapsed from the force. Villagers who rushed to the scene managed to apprehend the driver temporarily, but he and his accomplices escaped before police arrived.

Police Investigation and Arrests

Faridabad police have arrested the alleged driver, Tahseem, a resident of Dhauj village, and registered a case under sections including attempted murder at the Sector 56 police station. The vehicle has been seized, and raids are underway to capture the other suspects: Jishan, Nafees, and Aslam. Police spokesperson said, "A case has been registered against Scorpio driver Tahseem under charges including attempted murder. He has been arrested. We recovered the vehicle from the scene and are conducting raids to nab the other accused."

Motive: Revenge for Alleged Tip-off

Investigations revealed that earlier in the day, a team from the Yamunanagar Crime Investigation Agency (CIA) had visited Dhauj village in connection with a theft case involving Jishan, Nafees, and Aslam. The trio fled before police could reach them. Believing Shahnaz had tipped off the authorities, they drove to Sirohi in the Scorpio, where Shahnaz was grazing cattle. The attack ensued, leading to the near-fatal hit-and-run.

Community Reaction and Cross-Cases

Local villagers expressed outrage, stating that Shahnaz could have died had he been fully pinned. Both sides have filed complaints, and police have registered cross-cases. The incident has sparked concerns about vigilante justice and the safety of individuals perceived as informants. The Faridabad police have assured a thorough investigation and urged the public to remain calm.
