A shocking incident unfolded near Amritsar on Monday afternoon when a government school teacher was brutally murdered in broad daylight. The victim, identified as Jagdeep Singh, a resident of Talwandi Manak village, was attacked while returning home after dropping his teenage daughter at a tuition center.
Details of the Incident
According to Deputy Superintendent of Police, Jandiala Guru, Baljit Singh, the horrific incident occurred at around 2:15 pm on a deserted stretch of road. A group of unidentified assailants allegedly surrounded Singh and attacked him with sharp-edged weapons. The attackers repeatedly assaulted him before slitting his throat. Due to catastrophic injuries to his head and neck and subsequent excessive bleeding, Singh died on the spot. His body was later discovered by locals, who immediately alerted the authorities.
Investigation Underway
A police team rushed to the scene to initiate a forensic probe. The severity of the injuries indicates a targeted and deeply violent attack, a police source stated. Police have launched a full-scale investigation and are gathering electronic and physical evidence from the surrounding area. Investigation teams are currently reviewing CCTV footage from nearby routes to identify the attackers and track their escape path.
Possible Motive
Speaking to media, distraught relatives said that Jagdeep was a peace-loving person with no known personal enmities or ongoing disputes. However, preliminary police inquiries hint at a different dimension. Highly placed police sources revealed that initial findings suggest a simmering dispute within the family. Meanwhile, police maintained that it is too early to pin down a single motive. A case has been registered, and investigations are ongoing.
