Temple Roof Collapse in Morena Village Claims Three Young Lives, Injures Seven

A devastating structural failure at a village temple in Madhya Pradesh's Morena district resulted in a tragic loss of life on Monday afternoon. Three young girls were killed and seven other individuals, including a married couple, sustained injuries when the roof of the temple suddenly collapsed.

Timing and Circumstances of the Tragedy

The catastrophic incident unfolded around 2:30 PM in Ahrauli village, a time when devotees were actively engaged in offering prayers inside the shrine. According to preliminary police reports, construction work was actively underway on the temple's dome when a significant portion of the roof gave way without warning.

Eyewitness accounts and police statements reveal a harrowing scene:

  • A local resident, Satish Gaud, had arrived at the temple with his wife, Guddi, and their young daughter, Mansi, to perform religious rituals.
  • Simultaneously, several children who had been playing in the vicinity entered the temple premises, likely intending to collect prasad (religious offering).
  • The sudden collapse trapped these individuals under debris, triggering immediate panic and distress.

Immediate Rescue Efforts and Casualties

Villagers, alerted by the sounds of screams and collapsing structure, rushed to the site and initiated frantic rescue operations. They worked diligently to pull the injured from the rubble in a race against time.

The rescue efforts confirmed the grim toll:

  1. Three young girls were pronounced dead at the scene. They have been identified as:
    • Vaishnavi Sikarwar, aged 11
    • Karishma Goswami, aged 9
    • Chhaya Goswami, aged 7
All were residents of Ahrauli village.
  2. Seven individuals were rescued with injuries and promptly shifted to medical facilities for treatment. The injured include:
    • Satish Gaud and his wife Guddi
    • Their daughter, Mansi
    • Four other children, whose ages range between six and eight years

Medical Treatment and Current Condition of Injured

The injured victims have been distributed across two hospitals for medical care. Five of them are currently receiving treatment at the Morena district hospital, while two others have been admitted to Kailaras hospital. Police authorities have reported that the condition of all seven injured individuals is now stable, providing a small measure of relief amidst the tragedy.

This incident has cast a shadow of grief over Ahrauli village and raised serious questions about safety protocols during construction activities at religious sites. An investigation into the precise cause of the structural failure is likely underway as the community mourns the loss of three young lives.
