In a bizarre incident that seems straight out of a slapstick comedy, a burglar's attempt to loot a house in Rajasthan's Kota city ended with him getting painfully stuck in an exhaust fan window. The would-be thief, identified as Rahul Jatav, aged 22, found himself trapped in the tight spot during the early hours of Wednesday, May 15, leading to his dramatic arrest by local police.
The Sticky Situation: A Burglary Gone Awry
The incident unfolded in the Kunhari police station area of Kota. According to police reports, Rahul Jatav targeted a residential house with the intention of stealing gold jewellery and cash. His plan involved entering the premises through a window fitted with an exhaust fan, a common feature in many Indian homes for ventilation.
However, his escape plan hit a major, and quite literal, snag. After allegedly committing the theft, Jatav attempted to flee through the same narrow window. In his hurried exit, he managed to squeeze his upper body through the opening but then became completely stuck. His torso was wedged tightly in the window frame, leaving him unable to move forward or backward, suspended in an embarrassing and precarious position.
Public Alarm and Police Response
The commotion and the sight of a man trapped in a window did not go unnoticed for long. Alert neighbours spotted the struggling intruder and immediately raised an alarm. The local police were swiftly informed about the unusual situation.
A team from the Kunhari police station rushed to the scene. Upon arrival, officers were met with the surreal sight of the burglar lodged in the window. Their first task was to carefully extricate him from his unintended confinement. Once freed, Rahul Jatav, a resident of the nearby Ramganj area, was taken into custody without further incident.
Recovery of Stolen Goods and Legal Action
Following the arrest, the police conducted a search and recovered the stolen items from the suspect's possession. The haul included gold jewellery and a significant amount of cash that he had allegedly taken from the house.
The police have registered a case against Jatav and are conducting further investigations. He now faces charges under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code for burglary and theft.
