Police in Sheffield arrested three people after a shooting outside a city centre bar in the early hours of Monday morning, leaving major roads closed and public transport thrown into disruption.
Incident Details
Officers from South Yorkshire Police were called to West Street at around 02:45 BST following reports of a shooting outside the One Four One bar. Two men and a woman were taken into custody and remained there for questioning on Monday. Police have not confirmed whether anyone was injured.
Road Closures
West Street was closed between Mappin Street and Westfield Terrace as detectives worked the scene. Eldon Street, Westhill Lane and part of Orange Street were also shut off. Drivers were advised to avoid the entire area.
Public Transport Impact
The road closures hit public transport across the city centre. Supertram services were unable to run between Cathedral and Middlewood or Malin Bridge until further notice. The operator confirmed on X that ticket acceptance had been arranged with First and Stagecoach buses to cover the disrupted routes.
Police Statement
South Yorkshire Police said in a statement: "We know this incident will cause concern amongst our local communities and we will provide further updates as soon as we are able to." The force also thanked the public for their patience while officers continued working at the scene.
Context
