Three Arrested in Churu Hotel Murder; Police Seize Crime-Linked Properties
In a significant development, police in Jhunjhunu on Thursday arrested three identified accused—Subhash Godara, Manoj Kumar, and Lekhram Kadwasra—in connection with the murder of hotel businessman Maniram Manda. The victim was shot dead in a firing incident at a hotel in Bidasar, Churu, with the crime allegedly stemming from rivalry in the liquor business.
Details of the Arrest and Investigation
Churu Superintendent of Police Jai Yadav confirmed that the arrests were made in relation to the murder, which occurred around midnight on March 2. He stated that other detained accused are currently being interrogated as part of the ongoing investigation.
Preliminary police investigations have revealed that Devi Singh Kheriya, a history sheeter at Bidasar police station, hatched a conspiracy and planned the entire murder. According to authorities, Raju Nehra, Dhannaram Momasar, and another accused carried out indiscriminate firing at the hotel, resulting in Maniram Manda's death on the spot and injuries to three others.
A case has been registered at Bidasar police station against seven named accused and others involved in the incident.
Property Seizure and Legal Actions
In a parallel move, Nagar Palika officials and employees, in coordination with the police administration, sealed a hotel allegedly being run in partnership using the proceeds of crime by accused Devi Singh Kheriya. SP Jai Yadav emphasized, "Along with legal action, proceedings are being carried out to inflict financial damage on the accused by sealing and attaching properties acquired through crime."
Nagar Palika Acting Executive Officer Poonamchand provided further details, noting that commercial construction had been carried out on a plot approved for residential purposes. A notice was served, and the property was seized accordingly. Additionally, unauthorized construction outside the under-construction house of Devi Singh in Ward No. 4 was demolished, and the house was seized after a notice was pasted outside.
Government Response and Ongoing Efforts
Tehsildar Amarsingh commented on the situation, stating, "A murder took place at a hotel in town on the day of Holi," and added that illegal properties of the suspect are being investigated and seized. He affirmed that "the government is in action mode" to address such criminal activities.
The combined efforts of law enforcement and municipal authorities highlight a robust approach to not only apprehend the perpetrators but also dismantle the financial networks supporting alleged criminal enterprises in the region.
