Three Arrested After Police Encounter in Shivpuri Advocate Murder Case
In a significant development in the murder case of advocate Sanjay Saxena, police in Shivpuri's Karaira town have arrested three individuals following a brief encounter late Saturday night. The 57-year-old lawyer was fatally shot while on his way to court, sparking an intensive investigation that led to the dramatic arrests.
Details of the Arrested Accused
The arrested individuals have been identified as Golu Rawat (25), Papendra Rawat (23), and Zaheer Muslim (24). According to police records, Golu Rawat resides in Ghugsi, Barauni, while Papendra Rawat hails from Chandpur in Dabra. Zaheer Muslim also comes from Ghugsi in Barauni. These arrests came after special police teams conducted raids at multiple locations based on intelligence inputs.
The Fatal Shooting and Police Response
Police investigation reveals that Golu Rawat allegedly shot advocate Sanjay Saxena in the back with a pistol on Saturday morning while the lawyer was traveling to court on his motorcycle. Immediately following the murder, police formed special teams to trace the perpetrators. The breakthrough came when authorities received information about the accused hiding near Chirli Tiraha under Karaira police station limits.
When police reached the location, Papendra Rawat allegedly opened fire on the officers. In what police described as defensive retaliation, officers returned fire, resulting in Papendra sustaining two bullet injuries to his leg. He was promptly taken to a hospital for medical treatment, while the other two accused were arrested at the scene without further incident.
Murder Case Registration and Investigation
On Saturday evening, police registered a murder case against teacher Kamlesh Sharma, his uncle Sunil Sharma (who serves as a sarpanch), Neeraj Sharma, and associate Ashish Parihar in connection with the killing. Investigators are currently examining the specific role of each accused in the murder conspiracy.
Preliminary investigation indicates the killing may be connected to land disputes in which advocate Sanjay Saxena had been representing clients. The victim's family had earlier alleged that the murder resulted from an ongoing land dispute combined with election rivalry, adding complexity to the investigation.
Ongoing Investigation and Financial Aspects
Police officials have revealed that investigators are examining the financial dimensions of the conspiracy, including whether money exchanged hands to facilitate the murder. The arrested accused are currently undergoing interrogation as authorities work to uncover additional details about the crime.
Efforts continue to trace other possible suspects who may have been involved in the planning or execution of the murder. The case has drawn significant attention in Shivpuri district, highlighting concerns about legal professionals' safety and the violent resolution of property disputes.
