Three Killed in Tragic Truck Accident on Ratlam-Jhabua Road in Indore
A devastating road accident claimed three lives on the Ratlam-Jhabua Road near Indore on Monday night. A truck carrying a heavy load of tiles lost control while climbing a steep section, rolling backward and crushing a smaller loading vehicle behind it.
Details of the Fatal Incident
The accident occurred between 10 pm and 10:30 pm near Undwa village in the Bilpank police station area. The truck was traveling from Jhabua towards Ratlam. It was navigating the uphill stretch of Koyla Ghati when it suddenly became unstable.
The heavy vehicle moved in reverse and toppled directly onto the loading vehicle. That smaller vehicle was carrying empty egg trays. The impact pushed both vehicles off the road and into a deep roadside ditch.
Immediate Aftermath and Rescue Efforts
All three occupants of the loading vehicle died on the spot. The crash was so severe that rescue teams faced significant challenges. They needed nearly two and a half hours to retrieve the bodies from the wreckage.
Rescue workers used two cranes and an earthmover to complete the difficult task. Local residents gathered at the scene and assisted the police during the operation. Traffic on the busy route remained disrupted for several hours. Normal flow was restored only after authorities removed the damaged truck from the road.
Police Response and Investigation
Bilpank police station in-charge Ayub Khan reached the spot quickly with his team. He supervised the rescue work after receiving information about the tragic accident. The bodies were sent in an ambulance to Ratlam Medical College for postmortem examination around midnight.
The deceased were identified as 50-year-old Abdul Hamid from Jhabua, 48-year-old Riyaz from Subhash Nagar in Ratlam, and 52-year-old Jafar from Pinjarwadi area in Ratlam.
Police officials suspect a technical fault in the truck caused it to roll back while climbing the ghat section. The exact cause of the accident is still under investigation. Authorities are examining all factors to determine what led to this fatal mishap.
