Three Policemen in Madhya Pradesh's Shahdol Range Suspended Over Administrative Lapses

In a significant disciplinary action, three policemen serving in the Shahdol range of Madhya Pradesh have been suspended following their failure to submit mandatory administrative reports on time. The suspension orders also cited a dress code violation after one of the personnel appeared before a senior officer wearing jeans instead of the prescribed uniform.

Failure to Submit Crucial Inspection Reports

The action was initiated by Inspector General of Police (IG) Chaitra N of Shahdol range after it was discovered that crucial information regarding inspections and meetings conducted by deputy superintendents of police had not been submitted by officials from Shahdol, Umaria, and Anuppur districts. This information had been requested by the police headquarters back in April of the previous year but had neither been placed before the IG nor presented for review until recently, despite repeated follow-ups.

Taking serious note of this administrative lapse, IG Chaitra N summoned the concerned personnel on March 16 to provide an explanation for the delay. Officials stated that the reader branch, responsible for compiling and submitting the required data for February and March, had also failed to meet the stipulated deadlines.

Dress Code Violation Compounds Disciplinary Issues

During the proceedings, a head constable appeared before the senior officer wearing jeans, which was flagged as an act of indiscipline and recorded in the suspension order alongside the primary charge of negligence. This dress code violation was considered a significant breach of protocol and contributed to his suspension for the lapse.

The omission in submitting the reports was viewed as a substantial procedural failure, given the importance of monitoring field-level inspections and administrative reviews within the police department. Consequently, an Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) and another head constable from Shahdol and Umaria districts were also suspended for their roles in the delay.

Detailed Probe Ordered to Fix Responsibilities

All three suspended personnel have been sent back to their parent units and attached to reserve centers pending further action. During their suspension period, they are entitled to receive subsistence allowance as per established rules and regulations.

A comprehensive investigation has been ordered to ascertain individual responsibilities and identify any broader lapses in the reporting mechanism. Sub-Divisional Officer of Police from Dhanpuri, Vikas Pandey, confirmed to media sources that he has been instructed to conduct a thorough probe and submit a detailed report on the entire matter.

"I have been asked to conduct a probe and submit a detailed report over the entire issue," stated Vikas Pandey, highlighting the seriousness with which the administration is treating these procedural failures.

Despite multiple attempts to seek clarification, Inspector General Chaitra N of Shahdol range could not be reached for additional comments regarding the suspensions or the ongoing investigation.
