Tonk SP Takes Action Against Police Personnel in Illegal Mining Case
Tonk Superintendent of Police Rajesh Kumar Meena suspended five policemen on Wednesday. This action came after videos and audio recordings went viral on social media. The content indicated possible collusion with illegal gravel mining operations.
Viral Evidence Triggers Immediate Suspensions
The SP issued two separate suspension orders. From Sop police station under Uniyara circle, ASI Prahlad Narayan and Constable Sabulal faced suspension. From Aligarh police station, Head Constable Satyaprakash, Driver Constable Omprakash Yadav, and Constable Rajendra received suspension orders.
Meena proposed a departmental inquiry against all five personnel. He directed them to report to police lines immediately. This move followed recent action by the state's Director General of Police. The DGP had suspended Station House Officers of Peeplu and Barauni police stations in Tonk. Their role appeared suspicious during decoy operations targeting the gravel black market.
Specific Incidents Under Investigation
Two call recordings involving Head Constable Satyaprakash went viral recently. These recordings allegedly showed collusion with gravel mafia operators. The SP ordered investigations into both recordings upon receiving them.
Driver Constable Omprakash Yadav faced suspension twice before. Both previous incidents related to gravel mining matters. A video showing tractor-trolleys loaded with gravel passing Sop police station also surfaced. An audio recording linked to a suspended police personnel from Aligarh police station emerged simultaneously.
SP Clarifies Grounds for Suspension
SP Meena clarified the suspension rationale. He stated personnel were suspended for negligence in duty. They failed to perform their duties with required strictness. The SP emphasized they were not suspended directly because of the video and audio. However, the material suggested prima facie negligence that demanded immediate action.
"There is an audio recording discussing gravel-related matters on mobile," Meena explained. "A police personnel should not engage in such conversations with anyone. In the video, tractor trolleys loaded with gravel pass outside a police station. Where were the police personnel at that moment? We are investigating all these points thoroughly."
The SP confirmed further action would follow investigation completion. The departmental inquiry will examine all aspects of the case. This incident highlights ongoing concerns about illegal mining activities in the region. It demonstrates authorities taking strict action when evidence suggests police complicity.
