A tragic accident occurred in Hedum village under Lawalong police station limits in Chatra district on Thursday, leaving a 19-year-old youth dead and another person injured. The incident took place when a sand-laden tractor overturned on the road.
Details of the Accident
The deceased has been identified as Anush Kumar, a local resident. The injured person, Tuli Ganjhu, was rescued from beneath the overturned tractor with the help of villagers who rushed to the spot. According to eyewitnesses, the tractor was carrying sand from the Amanat river and was heading towards Hedum when the driver allegedly lost control, causing the vehicle to overturn. Anush, who was passing by, got trapped under the tractor and died on the spot.
Police Investigation Underway
Local police station officer-in-charge Chandan Kumar stated that the tractor involved in the accident did not have a registration number. Efforts are underway to identify the vehicle owner. The body has been sent for postmortem examination, and further legal action will be initiated after the investigation is completed, police said.
