Agra Transporter Found Dead Under Mysterious Circumstances After GST Team Interception
In a tragic incident in Agra, a 51-year-old transporter was discovered dead on a road early Saturday morning, just hours after his truck had been intercepted by a Goods and Services Tax (GST) team. The family of the victim has raised serious allegations of foul play, while police authorities are currently investigating the case, with preliminary evidence suggesting it may have been a road accident.
Sequence of Events Leading to the Tragedy
The victim, identified as Azhar Ali, left his home around 11 pm on Friday to oversee a consignment destined for Jaipur. According to his nephew, Arshad, the truck was stopped by a GST team near Fatehpur Sikri and subsequently seized, despite having all valid documents in order. Ali informed his family about this interception at approximately 2 am, stating that he was heading to the GST office to resolve the matter.
A few hours later, a passerby alerted the police via the Dial-112 emergency service after finding Ali lying injured on a road under the jurisdiction of the Shahganj police station. He was immediately rushed to SN Medical College, where doctors declared him dead upon arrival.
Police Investigation and Family Allegations
Lohamandi Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Gaurav Singh provided an update on the investigation, stating that a preliminary examination of CCTV footage indicates Ali was struck by a car. The footage clearly shows a vehicle hitting him, and efforts are underway to identify both the vehicle and the driver involved. Police have completed the inquest proceedings and sent the body for a postmortem examination to determine the exact cause of death.
However, the family has vehemently contested the police's initial assessment, alleging a conspiracy involving two women GST officials. Ali's son, Abdul, claimed that there has been an ongoing dispute between his father and one of these officials since November 2025. At that time, a GST team seized one of their trucks and allegedly imposed a penalty of Rs 4.5 lakh, despite valid documents, while issuing a receipt for only Rs 3.06 lakh. Abdul highlighted discrepancies in the assessment and asserted that his father had approached departmental authorities and the Lokayukta to file complaints but was under pressure to withdraw them.

In an official statement, Agra Police confirmed that all allegations made by the family are being thoroughly probed. At the time of reporting, Abdul was in the process of filing a formal complaint to ensure a comprehensive investigation into the circumstances surrounding his father's death.
