Trichy Homes Targeted in Separate Burglaries, Over ₹4 Lakh in Valuables Stolen

Police in Trichy reported two separate house burglaries in the Karumandapam area. Unidentified miscreants targeted two residences, making off with gold jewellery and cash. The total value of the stolen items exceeds ₹4 lakh.

First Incident: Real Estate Broker's House Burgled During Brief Absence

In the first case, Rajan, a 51-year-old real estate broker from Vasantha Nagar, experienced a break-in at his home. The incident occurred on January 16. Rajan locked his house around 7:15 PM and stepped out briefly to purchase tiffin.

He returned approximately one hour later. Upon entering, he noticed the lights were switched off. Further inspection revealed that the rear door lock had been broken.

The thieves stole gold jewellery weighing about 20 sovereigns from a bureau. Police estimated the value of the stolen jewellery at approximately ₹4.1 lakh.

Authorities at the Sessions Court police station registered a case under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).

Second Incident: House Burgled While Owner Celebrated Pongal

In another incident within the same Karumandapam area, Karthikeyan, a 50-year-old resident of Sri Ram Nagar, reported a burglary. His house was targeted while he was away celebrating the Pongal festival.

Karthikeyan had locked his home on January 13 and traveled to his native place in Thuraiyur for the celebrations. He returned on the night of January 17.

Upon arrival, he discovered the door lock was broken. The burglars had entered the premises and stolen valuables.

The stolen items included gold jewellery weighing about three grams, valued at ₹5,000, and ₹60,000 in cash.

Police Investigation Underway, No Arrests Made

Police officials confirmed they have registered cases for both burglary incidents. Investigations are currently active as authorities work to identify the culprits.

No arrests have been made so far. The police are examining evidence and pursuing leads in both cases.

Residents in the area have expressed concern over the back-to-back incidents. Local police have advised homeowners to remain vigilant and ensure proper security measures.
