Truck Driver Dies in Gorge Accident on NH-2 in Hazaribag
A tragic accident claimed the life of a 40-year-old truck driver in the early hours of Monday when his vehicle fell into a 50-foot-deep gorge while negotiating a turn on National Highway-2. The incident occurred in the Danua Bhanua Ghat section under the Chouparan police station limits of Hazaribag district.
Details of the Fatal Crash
The truck, which was transporting iron rods from Kolkata to Rajasthan, was being driven by Rahul Thakur, a resident of Rajasthan. According to Saroj Choudhury, the officer-in-charge of Chouparan police station, Thakur was rescued from the wreckage and rushed to the Chouparan Community Health Centre. Unfortunately, doctors declared him dead upon arrival.
Injuries and Recovery Efforts
The helper of the truck, Kishan Ram Meena, aged 30, sustained injuries in the accident and was admitted to Chouparan Block Hospital for treatment. As of the latest reports, the truck could not be retrieved from the gorge, with recovery operations likely ongoing due to the challenging terrain.

Saroj Choudhury provided further insights, stating that the accident highlights the dangers of navigating sharp turns on this particular stretch of NH-2.
