Truck Overturns on Highway in Jalaun, Killing Three

A tragic road accident unfolded on Friday afternoon in Jalaun district, claiming three lives and leaving two people seriously injured. The incident occurred on the busy Jhansi-Kanpur National Highway near village Jakholi, within the Ait police station area of Orai.

Sudden Tyre Burst Leads to Catastrophe

A truck loaded with onions was speeding from Jhansi towards Kanpur when one of its tyres suddenly burst. The driver immediately lost control of the vehicle. The truck then overturned directly onto a group of people standing by the roadside.

Two women and the truck driver died on the spot. A young man and a woman sustained serious injuries in the horrific crash.

Victims Identified in Heartbreaking Details

Authorities identified the deceased women as Laungshree, a 45-year-old resident of Usargaon, and Maya Devi, a 65-year-old from village Jakholi. The truck driver also perished, but police could not establish his identity at the scene.

The injured were identified as Vandana, Laungshree's 20-year-old daughter, and Armaan Singh, an 18-year-old youth. Villagers rushed to help and called an ambulance, which transported both to Orai medical college. Due to her critical condition, doctors referred Vandana to a hospital in Jhansi for advanced treatment.

Families Waiting for Transport When Tragedy Struck

Laungshree had traveled to her maternal home in Jakholi with her daughter Vandana on Thursday. They were visiting for the Makar Sankranti festival. On Friday afternoon, the group—Laungshree, Maya Devi, Armaan Singh, and Vandana—stood outside the village on the National Highway. They were waiting for a vehicle to return home when the speeding truck overturned onto them.

Chaos and Traffic Disruption Follow Accident

The accident caused immediate chaos at the site. It also led to long queues of vehicles on both sides of the National Highway, creating a major traffic jam. Police arrived promptly after receiving information about the crash.

Officers took possession of the three bodies and sent them to Orai for postmortem examination. After about an hour of coordinated effort, authorities managed to clear the traffic jam and restore normal traffic flow on the crucial highway.

Senior Officials Visit Site, Promise Support

District Magistrate Rajesh Kumar Pandey and SP Durgesh Kumar reached the accident spot after being informed. The senior officials conducted a thorough inspection of the site. They spoke with the grieving families of the deceased and the injured.

Both officials assured the affected families of all possible help from the administration. The tragic incident has left the local community in shock, highlighting once again the dangers on India's busy national highways.
