Truck Container Rampage on Agra-Mumbai Highway Leaves Two Dead, Three Injured
A horrifying series of events unfolded on the Agra–Mumbai National Highway in Barwani district on Friday evening, as a truck container went on a destructive rampage, causing three separate accidents within a span of approximately two-and-a-half hours. The tragic incidents resulted in the deaths of two individuals and left three others with serious injuries, sending shockwaves through the local community.
Chaotic Sequence of Accidents Under Julwania Police Station Limits
According to Rajpur SDOP Ayush Alawa, the accidents occurred under the jurisdiction of the Julwania police station. The container, which was loaded with goods belonging to an e-commerce company and traveling from Mumbai to Lucknow, suddenly lost control. It began violently colliding with vehicles coming from the opposite direction, creating a scene of chaos and devastation on the busy highway.
The first accident took place near Gawaghati, where the out-of-control container struck a two-wheeler rider. The victim, identified as 25-year-old Chandra Singh Sisodiya from Agalgav, sustained injuries in the impact. Shortly after, near Bajad Phata, the truck rammed into another two-wheeler with fatal consequences. The rider, 38-year-old Mukesh, a resident of Petlawad in Jhabua district, was killed instantly at the scene. Mukesh was employed with a company associated with the Nal Jal Yojna, a water supply scheme.
Third Collision Claims Life of Devotee Returning from Temple
In a third incident that occurred a short distance away, the container struck yet another motorcycle, leading to the tragic death of 36-year-old Anita Bai. Her husband, Ashish Sen, and their son Nikhil also sustained injuries in the collision. The family was returning home after offering prayers at the Bijasan Mata Temple, located near the Madhya Pradesh–Maharashtra border. This spiritual journey ended in catastrophe due to the reckless driving of the container.
All the injured victims were promptly admitted to the district hospital for urgent medical treatment. The severity of their injuries underscores the violent nature of the accidents, which have left families grieving and the community in mourning.
Swift Police Action Leads to Arrest of Driver
Julwania police station incharge Ramkumar Patil provided details on the law enforcement response. The container was seized on Friday night following the accidents, and an intensive investigation was launched to apprehend the responsible party. On Saturday evening, the driver was arrested and identified as Chandrapal Singh Thakur, a resident of Aligarh in Uttar Pradesh.
This arrest marks a critical step in the legal proceedings, as authorities work to determine the exact cause of the driver losing control and the subsequent chain of collisions. The incidents highlight ongoing concerns about road safety on national highways, particularly involving heavy commercial vehicles.
The Agra–Mumbai National Highway, a vital transportation artery, witnessed unprecedented disruption and tragedy due to this single vehicle's rampage. As the investigation continues, the focus remains on providing justice for the victims and implementing measures to prevent such devastating occurrences in the future.
