Speeding Truck Rams into Former Official's Residence in Chatra, Causing Significant Damage
A speeding truck crashed into a residential house in the Giddhaur block of Chatra district in the early hours of Monday, causing substantial structural damage to the property. The incident occurred around 4 am, when the vehicle rammed into the home of former zila parishad member Baleshwar Prasad Kushwaha.
Fortunately, no injuries were reported in the accident, but a section of the house sustained severe damage. Additionally, a two-wheeler parked within the premises was completely destroyed in the impact.
Driver Allegedly Dozed Off, Leading to the Crash
According to local residents, the truck was returning to Tandwa after unloading coal in Katkamsandi, located in Hazaribag district. The driver is suspected to have dozed off at the wheel, losing control of the vehicle. The truck subsequently broke through the boundary wall of the property before crashing directly into the house.
Locals have raised serious concerns about administrative negligence in the area. They allege that coal vehicles frequently operate at dangerously high speeds, and in many instances, are driven by underage drivers, posing a continuous threat to public safety.
Police Investigation Underway, Driver Detained
Giddhaur police station officer-in-charge Purushottam Agnihotri confirmed that an investigation is currently in progress to determine the exact circumstances of the accident. "Probe is on to know how this accident took place. Driver has been detained," stated Agnihotri.
The detention of the driver marks a critical step in the ongoing inquiry, as authorities work to ascertain liability and address the broader issues of road safety and regulatory enforcement highlighted by this alarming incident.
