Two Arrested After Encounter in Amritsar, Foiled Targeted Killing

Amritsar: The Commissionerate Police arrested two armed suspects following an encounter in the Fatahpur area under the Islamabad police station. Police Commissioner Gurpreet Singh Bhullar stated that the operation occurred during routine patrolling and search operations when two men on a motorcycle were observed acting suspiciously. When signaled to stop, the duo allegedly attempted to flee and opened fire at the police team.

Police Response and Arrest

In self-defense, the police retaliated, during which one of the accused sustained a bullet injury in his leg, causing his pistol to fall to the ground. Both suspects were subsequently overpowered and arrested. The injured accused was immediately shifted to a hospital for medical treatment.

Identification of Suspects

The injured individual has been identified as Kulbir Singh, while his associate is Jashandeep Singh, alias Maya. Police recovered a .30 bore pistol (made in China), four live cartridges, and two empty shells from their possession.

Investigation Reveals Gangster Link

During the preliminary investigation, police disclosed that the accused were allegedly planning a targeted killing, which was thwarted due to timely intervention. Commissioner Bhullar added that both suspects were in contact with a foreign-based gangster, Ankush Bahman, and had been tasked with eliminating two rival gang members.

Further investigation is underway to uncover additional details and connections to other criminal activities.
