Madurai city police have arrested two men from the Sri Lankan Tamil rehabilitation camp at Anaiyur for allegedly damaging CCTV cameras and focus lights installed for security surveillance. The incident occurred on the night of May 26 under the Koodal Pudur police station limits.
Incident Details
According to police reports, the accused were allegedly under the influence of alcohol when they created a disturbance and damaged the surveillance equipment inside the camp. The damaged equipment included CCTV cameras and focus lights that were part of the camp's security infrastructure.
Legal Proceedings
Following a complaint lodged by camp authorities, Koodal Pudur police registered a case and launched an investigation. The arrested individuals were identified as Chandru, 28, son of Deivendran, and Sudhan alias Ajay, 26, son of Suresh. Both are residents of the same rehabilitation camp.
Police produced the duo before a court, which remanded them in judicial custody. They were subsequently lodged in Puzhal prison in Chennai. The authorities are continuing their investigation into the incident.
