Police in Ghaziabad have apprehended two individuals for the alleged murder of their 22-year-old roommate, a crime that followed a violent altercation during a drinking session in Loni. The incident, which highlights the dangers of excessive alcohol consumption and sudden rage, was solved within a day of the victim's identification.
The Discovery and Investigation
On January 4, authorities recovered an unidentified body from the Halka Chowki Chirodi area in Loni. The body was sent for a post-mortem examination, and a special police team was formed to determine the identity of the deceased. He was later identified as Aakash, a resident of Loni. Based on a formal complaint, a case was registered at the Loni police station under Section 103(1) (murder) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and relevant sections of the SC/ST Act.
Swift Police Action and Arrests
Led by ACP (Loni) Siddharth Gautam, the investigative team cracked the case on January 5. The police arrested the two accused, identified as Badal Kumar (20) and Chintu Singh (22). All three men, including the victim, were daily wage labourers who were friends and shared accommodation.
"On their pointing out, police recovered the murder weapon, a cloth muffler, and four pouches of country liquor used during the incident," stated ACP Gautam. The swift recovery of evidence was crucial in building the case against the accused.
The Fatal Night of Drinking and Violence
During interrogation, the accused revealed a tragic sequence of events. The trio had gone out together to drink and purchased liquor from a local shop. While consuming alcohol, a heated argument erupted after Aakash allegedly started hurling abuses.
Police officials explained that Aakash, who had consumed an excessive amount of liquor, became aggressive and turned physically violent towards his two roommates. In a fit of anger, Badal and Chintu strangled him to death using a muffler. After committing the crime, they fled the scene, leaving the body behind.
The case underscores how a combination of alcohol and uncontrolled temper led to a fatal outcome among friends, resulting in a tragic loss of life and serious legal consequences for the perpetrators.
