Late-Night Raid Nets Cattle Smugglers
In a coordinated late-night operation, police forces alongside members of the Gau Rakshak Sena apprehended two individuals, including a woman, on charges of cattle smuggling near the under-construction Ganga Expressway in Unnao district.
The joint team successfully rescued between 30 to 35 cattle that were in the possession of the accused. The operation was launched based on crucial information provided by residents of Rahimabad village, which falls under the jurisdiction of the Aseevan police station.
Villagers' Tip-Off Leads to Action
Acting swiftly on the intelligence received from local villagers, the police and Gau Rakshak Sena team moved into position and managed to capture the two suspects. However, the darkness of the night worked to the advantage of six other individuals involved in the smuggling operation, who managed to evade capture and escape from the scene.
Law enforcement officials confirmed that the smugglers had abandoned a motorcycle at the location, which was subsequently seized by police as evidence. The vehicle now forms part of the ongoing investigation into the cattle smuggling network.
Intercepted During Transport Planning
According to a senior police officer familiar with the operation, the cattle smugglers were waiting for a heavy vehicle to arrive and transport the rescued animals to another location when the raid occurred. This timing proved crucial in preventing the movement of the cattle and potentially disrupting a larger smuggling chain.
The successful operation highlights the continuing efforts by authorities and volunteer groups to combat illegal cattle transportation in the region. The rescued animals have been moved to a secure location where they will receive proper care and attention.
