A horrific road accident in Noida last week resulted in two fatalities and left another person fighting for his life. The incident occurred when a speeding truck allegedly rammed into a motorcycle on the service lane of the Noida Expressway near Sector 129.
Details of the Tragic Collision
On January 9, three men were traveling together on a two-wheeler from Pari Chowk towards Noida. The victims have been identified as Pankaj Kumar, Vivek Kumar, and Gulsher Ali. Around 11 PM, as they reached the service lane near the Gulshan One29 residential complex, disaster struck.
A truck, reportedly being driven at high speed and in a rash manner, collided with their motorcycle. The impact was so severe that all three men were thrown off the bike onto the road. They sustained critical injuries in the violent crash.
Immediate Response and Hospitalization
Passersby who witnessed the accident immediately rushed to help the injured men. They also alerted the police about the serious incident. Emergency services were quickly mobilized.
All three victims were rushed to the trauma centre at Safdarjung Hospital in Delhi for urgent medical treatment. Despite receiving emergency care, both Pankaj Kumar and Vivek Kumar succumbed to their injuries during treatment. Gulsher Ali remains in critical condition, according to police statements.
Police Investigation and Legal Action
Following the tragic deaths, Pankaj Kumar's nephew, Amit Chaudhary, filed a formal police complaint about the incident. The Noida police have registered a case under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) against the unidentified truck driver.
The investigation is currently ongoing as authorities work to identify and locate the driver responsible for the fatal collision. Police are examining all available evidence from the accident scene to piece together exactly what happened that night.
Broader Road Safety Concerns
This tragic accident highlights ongoing concerns about road safety on busy expressways and service lanes in the Noida region. The Noida Expressway, which connects Delhi to Noida and Greater Noida, sees heavy traffic flow throughout the day and night.
Local residents have previously raised concerns about speeding vehicles, particularly large trucks and commercial vehicles, using service lanes meant for slower traffic. The lack of proper lighting and safety measures on some stretches has also been cited as contributing factors to accidents.
Authorities have been urged to increase patrolling and implement stricter speed enforcement measures on these roads to prevent similar tragedies in the future. Road safety advocates emphasize the need for better infrastructure and driver education to reduce fatal accidents.
