A tragic road accident on National Highway 319 in Bihar's Buxar district claimed two lives early Thursday morning. The fatal collision occurred amid dense fog conditions near Kadsar village, within the jurisdiction of the Sonvarsha police station.

Victims and Circumstances of the Crash

The deceased have been identified as truck driver Ali Khan Sheikh (36), a resident of Dhanora in Maharashtra, and his cleaner, Dayanand Babu Rao (48), from Ahadpur in the same state. The duo was transporting a consignment of tomatoes from Maharashtra to Katihar when the accident happened.

According to eyewitness accounts and preliminary police investigation, the truck rear-ended a heavy vehicle that was moving ahead of it on the highway. The impact of the collision was severe, leaving the truck badly damaged.

Rescue Operations and Police Response

The loud crash alerted villagers, who rushed to the site and immediately informed the police. Panic spread in the area following the incident. A team from the Sonvarsha police station promptly reached the spot and launched rescue operations.

The victims were found trapped inside the mangled cabin of the truck. With considerable effort from the police and assistance from local villagers, both men were pulled out. However, they had sustained fatal injuries due to the force of the impact and were pronounced dead at the scene.

Investigation into Causes and Aftermath

Speaking on the incident, SHO of Sonvarsha police station, Santosh Kumar, stated that the exact cause of the accident is being examined. He indicated that speeding, driver fatigue, and the extremely poor visibility caused by dense fog are all being considered as potential contributing factors in the ongoing investigation.

The bodies of the two victims were sent for a post-mortem examination. Police officials added that efforts are underway to contact the owner of the truck involved in the mishap.

The accident led to a disruption in traffic movement on the busy NH-319 for some time. Normal traffic flow was later restored with the assistance of police personnel deployed at the location.
