Tragic Bus Accidents in Ahmedabad Claim Two Lives
In a devastating series of events on Thursday, two individuals lost their lives in separate road accidents involving buses in Ahmedabad, according to police reports. The incidents have highlighted ongoing traffic safety concerns in the city.
First Accident: Teenager Crushed Under Bus Wheels
The first tragedy occurred around 8:30 PM near the Piplaj-Pirana Road area. Imdadul Shaikh, a 16-year-old resident of Ganeshnagar near Torrent Power House, was riding pillion on his friend Sameer's scooter when a speeding bus collided with their vehicle.
Police investigation revealed that while Sameer sustained injuries in the collision, Imdadul was tragically crushed under the wheels of the bus and died instantly at the scene. His father, Chandbhai Sheikh, subsequently filed a formal complaint at the K-Traffic police station, initiating legal proceedings.
Second Accident: Man Run Over Near Vasant Rajab Crossroads
Earlier that same evening, around 6 PM, another fatal accident unfolded near Vasant Rajab Crossroads in Behrampura. Vira Solanki, a 49-year-old resident of Behrampura, was struck by a bus allegedly traveling at high speed.
According to police accounts, the bus not only knocked Solanki down but also ran over him, causing fatal injuries. He was immediately rushed to LG Hospital, where medical professionals declared him dead upon arrival. His brother, Suresh Solanki, filed a complaint of causing death by negligent driving with the K-Traffic police station.
Police Investigation Underway
Authorities have registered cases for both accidents and launched comprehensive investigations into the circumstances and the role of the bus drivers involved. Inspector F L Rathod of the K-Traffic police station is leading the probe, examining factors such as:
- Vehicle speed at the time of accidents
- Driver negligence and compliance with traffic regulations
- Road conditions and visibility factors
- Witness testimonies and available surveillance footage
The back-to-back incidents have raised serious questions about bus safety protocols and traffic enforcement measures in Ahmedabad's busy urban corridors.
