Ranchi: Police have arrested two members of the extremist organisation Tritya Sammelan Prastuti Committee (TSPC) in connection with demanding Rs 10,00,000 from a trader under Ormanjhi police station limits of Ranchi district.
Police on Friday had said that the accused, namely Samrit Ganjhu (28), a native of Barkagoan in Hazaribag district, and Sonu Oroan (25), a resident of Pithoria in Ranchi district, were arrested based on a tip-off. A country-made pistol, magazine, two mobile phones, routers, two sim cards used for threatening traders, and other articles were seized from them.

SP (Rural) Gaurav Goswami said, “After registering the FIR, a special investigation team led by the Silli SDPO was formed to arrest the miscreants. Based on technical inputs, the team reached the Irba roundabout and spotted the accused persons standing under suspicious circumstances. Both of them tried to flee but were caught. The weapon and other materials were seized from a black bag carried by Samrit.”

He said that during interrogation the extremists admitted that they had threatened the trader and also demanded money in a similar way from traders of Hazaribag, Chatra, and Ramgarh districts. Police stated that Samrit was an accused in at least four cases registered with different police stations, including three in Ramgarh district and one in Chatra district.
