In a horrific incident underscoring the persistent threat of sexual violence in the National Capital Region, Faridabad police have detained two men accused of gang-raping a 25-year-old woman. The crime, which occurred in the early hours of Tuesday, has left the victim battling critical injuries in a hospital.
The Harrowing Sequence of Events
The nightmare began at Metro Chowk in Faridabad. The woman, returning home from a friend's house, found herself stranded late at night with no available transport to reach Kalyanpuri Chowk. It was then that the accused, driving a Maruti Suzuki Eeco van, offered her a lift.
Instead of taking her to her destination, the men subjected her to a brutal sexual assault inside the moving vehicle for nearly two hours. In a final act of cruelty, between 3 am and 4 am, they threw her out of the van near Raja Chowk while it was still in motion.
Critical Condition and Police Response
The victim sustained severe head injuries from the fall. Despite her trauma, she managed to call her sister for help. Her sister, upon arriving at the scene, found the young woman lying wounded on the roadside and immediately rushed her to Badshah Khan Hospital.
Doctors have declared the victim unfit to give a formal statement due to her critical condition. Acting on the complaint filed by the victim's sister, the crime branch swiftly launched an investigation.
Police officials confirmed the detention of the two accused and the seizure of their van. An FIR has been registered under sections 70(1) (gang rape), 351(3) (criminal intimidation), and 3(5) (common intention) of the new Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita.
Ongoing Investigation and Formal Arrests
Yashpal Yadav, the Public Relations Officer of Faridabad Police, stated that the detained duo is currently being interrogated to verify the facts and establish the precise sequence of events. The accused are expected to be formally arrested on Wednesday.
This case has sent shockwaves through the community, reigniting urgent conversations about women's safety and the efficacy of law enforcement in responding to such violent crimes in the Delhi-NCR region.
