A tragic incident unfolded in Ghamahapur village near Panditpur, Uttar Pradesh, on Saturday evening, resulting in the death of a 17-year-old boy. The teenager was brutally assaulted by a group of men who suspected him of stealing a mobile phone.

Details of the Assault

According to Akhtar Ali, the victim's uncle, the attack occurred around 9 PM on Saturday. Ramesh Patel, along with his associates, forcibly entered their home and accused the boy of having stolen Patel's mobile phone. The teenager, identified as Sanu, vehemently denied the accusation.

Patel then allegedly hustled Sanu out of the house, claiming they would resolve the matter at the local police outpost. Instead, the group took him to a nearby location and subjected him to a severe beating. The assault left Sanu unconscious on the ground.

Aftermath and Police Action

Sanu was rushed to a hospital, where he was later pronounced dead. The authorities have taken swift action in response to this heinous crime.

Sanjiv Sharma, the Assistant Commissioner of Police (Rohania), confirmed that a murder case has been registered against Ramesh Patel and six of his accomplices. Sharma further disclosed that Patel has a prior criminal record, having previously served jail time in a cattle smuggling case.

This incident has sent shockwaves through the local community, highlighting concerns over vigilante justice and mob violence. The police investigation is ongoing to ensure all perpetrators are brought to justice.
