SANT KABIR NAGAR: In a tragic incident of alleged dowry death, police in Uttar Pradesh's Sant Kabir Nagar district arrested three individuals, including the victim's husband, on Thursday. The 29-year-old woman, Maya Yadav, succumbed to severe burn injuries at her residence in Parsadipur village under the Mahuli police station area on May 27.
Details of the Incident
According to Additional Superintendent of Police Sushil Kumar Singh, Maya Yadav, wife of Ramesh Chand Yadav, died under suspicious circumstances. Following the incident, an FIR was registered, and an investigation was launched promptly.
Complaint and Allegations
The victim's family lodged a complaint stating that Maya was married to Ramesh Yadav approximately six years ago. She was allegedly subjected to harassment by her husband and his family over demands for additional dowry. When her family failed to meet these demands, the accused allegedly burned her to death on May 27.
The FIR named Ramesh Chand Yadav (husband), his brother Gorakhnath Yadav, and his wife Kanti Devi as the perpetrators.
Police Action and Arrests
The Additional Superintendent of Police confirmed that all three accused were arrested within 24 hours of the FIR being registered. They have been sent to judicial custody as the investigation continues.
