Two Men Arrested for Gang-Raping 15-Year-Old Girl in Vadodara's Fatehgunj
Vadodara: Teen Gang-Raped, Two Arrested in Fatehgunj

In a shocking incident that has sent waves of anger through Vadodara, a 15-year-old girl was allegedly subjected to a gang rape by two men in the Fatehgunj area on Thursday afternoon. The city police acted with commendable speed, registering a case and apprehending both accused within hours of the crime being reported.

The Fateful Afternoon: How the Crime Unfolded

According to police officials, the young survivor had stepped out for some work when she was approached by one of the accused, identified as Harshit Macwan. Macwan allegedly deceived the girl, telling her that her relatives were calling for her. Using this false pretext, he lured her to his residence in a lane near her father's house.

Once inside, the situation turned horrific. Macwan closed the door and allegedly raped the terrified teenager. The ordeal did not end there. After some time, a second accused, Jonty Parmar, arrived at the house. The girl told police that Parmar then also sexually assaulted her. The two men reportedly fled the scene only when the brave survivor began screaming for help.

Swift Police Action and Arrests

After managing to escape, the traumatized girl confided in her father about the harrowing assault. Her father, who sells vegetables for a living, immediately supported her in seeking justice. A formal complaint was filed with the Fatehgunj police on Thursday night itself.

The police machinery swung into action promptly. "We arrested both the accused and produced them in court, which remanded them to three days in police custody," stated Jagdish Chavda, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Zone 1). The quick arrests highlight the seriousness with which the authorities are treating this case.

Background of the Accused and Ongoing Investigation

Further details emerging from the investigation paint a concerning picture. The police revealed that the 15-year-old victim is originally from Uttar Pradesh and had arrived in Vadodara only about two weeks prior to the incident to visit her father.

Both the arrested men, Macwan and Parmar, are unemployed and were living close to the survivor's father's home. Authorities disclosed that Jonty Parmar already has two prior criminal offences registered against him, indicating a possible history of unlawful activity. Police officials added that the investigation is ongoing, with efforts to ascertain if any other individuals were involved in or had knowledge of this brutal crime.

The case has once again brought issues of women's safety and the vulnerability of minors in urban areas to the forefront in Vadodara. The swift police response is a critical step, but the incident underscores the need for continued vigilance and community awareness to prevent such atrocities.
