Woman Dies Under Mysterious Circumstances on Yamuna Expressway in Greater Noida
A 55-year-old woman from Delhi died under mysterious conditions on the Yamuna Expressway in Greater Noida on Sunday morning, sparking a police investigation and raising questions about the circumstances surrounding her death.
Details of the Tragic Incident
Pushpa Sharma, a resident of Harsh Vihar in Delhi, was traveling from Delhi to Vrindavan with family members when the tragic incident occurred. The group was aboard a bus that experienced a breakdown in the Jewar area of Greater Noida due to battery issues, according to preliminary police reports.
Police suspect that Sharma suffered a heart attack while participating in efforts to push the stalled bus from behind to restart its ignition. During this process, she allegedly fell on the road and sustained head injuries that proved fatal.
Police Investigation and Conflicting Accounts
Authorities received information about the incident from other passengers who witnessed the events unfold. Sharma was immediately taken to a nearby hospital, where doctors declared her dead upon arrival.
SHO Sanjay Kumar Singh confirmed that based on complaints from Sharma's family members, a case has been registered under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) for causing death by negligence. The case has been filed against the bus driver, who is currently absconding, and the vehicle has been seized by police as part of the investigation.
However, police are exploring multiple theories about the exact sequence of events. A senior police officer provided an alternative account, suggesting that Sharma may have initially sustained minor injuries around 2:30 AM while alighting from the Lucknow-registered bus.
"The exact cause of death will be ascertained in the autopsy report," stated a police officer involved in the investigation, emphasizing that multiple possibilities are being considered.
Additional Factors Under Consideration
Investigators are examining whether environmental factors contributed to the tragedy. According to one theory being pursued, a truck parked nearby created limited space between vehicles, potentially causing Sharma to panic about being run over during the chaotic situation.
The combination of the bus breakdown, physical exertion required to push the vehicle, possible pre-existing health conditions, and the confined space between vehicles has created a complex investigative scenario for authorities.
Police continue to gather statements from witnesses and family members while awaiting the official autopsy report that will provide crucial medical evidence about the exact cause of death.
