A 35-year-old woman was discovered dead with her throat slit inside a jhuggi in the Kailash Nagar area of Shahdara, Delhi, on Saturday. Police have launched an investigation into the suspected murder and are scrutinizing the role of the victim's husband.
Incident Details
According to police officials, the incident came to light at around 4:30 pm on Saturday when Head Constable Pramod was on patrolling duty in Kailash Nagar. He was alerted that a woman was lying inside a jhuggi in Chanderpuri with her throat slit. He immediately rushed to the spot, following which senior police officers also arrived and conducted an inspection.
Victim Identification
The deceased has been identified as Rukshar (35), wife of Khalid. Preliminary investigations revealed that marital disputes between the couple had become frequent over the past two years. Police found that the victim's husband had visited her residence on the day of the incident. His role is currently being examined as part of the ongoing probe.
Forensic Evidence
A forensics team inspected the scene and collected evidence. Police stated, "Dedicated teams have been formed to trace and apprehend the suspect. Further investigation into the case is underway."
The police are exploring all angles, including the possibility of an honor killing or a crime of passion. Neighbors reported hearing arguments from the jhuggi earlier in the day but did not intervene, assuming it was a routine domestic dispute. Authorities are also checking CCTV footage from the area to establish the timeline of events.
The body has been sent for post-mortem to determine the exact cause of death. The couple had been married for over a decade and had two children, who are currently being cared for by relatives. The incident has sent shockwaves through the local community, which is known for its tight-knit fabric.
Police have urged anyone with information to come forward. They are also examining the husband's mobile phone records and call logs to ascertain his movements. The investigation is ongoing, and further updates are expected as more evidence comes to light.
