In a shocking incident in Chennai, a 32-year-old woman lawyer was found dead in the bathtub of a hotel room in the Teynampet area on Monday. The deceased, identified as Roja, was a native of Tiruvannamalai and had been practising law in Chennai. According to preliminary reports, Roja and her friend, Yashwanth Kumar, checked into a star hotel in Teynampet on February 15. It is reported that the pair consumed alcohol together on the night of their stay.
Yashwanth Kumar left the hotel room the following morning. When Roja did not respond to repeated phone calls from a concerned friend, the friend grew alarmed and decided to visit the hotel. Upon arrival, there was no response to knocking on the door, prompting the friend to alert the hotel staff immediately.
Police Response and Investigation
The hotel staff quickly contacted the Teynampet police, who arrived at the scene and broke open the door. Inside, they discovered Roja's lifeless body in the bathtub. Her body was subsequently sent to the Royapettah Government Hospital for a postmortem examination to determine the exact cause of death.
Yashwanth Kumar was detained by the police for questioning shortly after the discovery.
