Woman Shot in Broad Daylight in Muzaffarpur

A 25-year-old woman was critically injured after being shot by two bike-borne assailants in broad daylight near Mithanpura on National Highway 27, under the Ahiyapur police station area of Muzaffarpur district, on Thursday.

Incident Details

According to police, the victim, identified as Madina Khatoon, was returning to her home in Bochaha after receiving treatment at Shri Krishna Medical College Hospital (SKMCH). She was traveling in an e-rickshaw with her sister-in-law, Zoya Khatoon. When they reached the Bakhri-Maror area, two men on a motorcycle intercepted the vehicle. One of the assailants entered the e-rickshaw, threatened Madina to withdraw a police case, and then shot her before fleeing with his accomplice. Local residents rushed the injured woman to the hospital, where her condition remains critical.

Possible Motive

Sub-Divisional Police Officer (Town-2) Binita Sinha stated that the attack appears to be linked to an earlier complaint involving an alleged relationship and a financial dispute. Madina had lodged a case at Bochaha police station against a man who, her family claims, was pressuring her to withdraw it. The SDPO confirmed that an investigation is underway and raids are being conducted to apprehend the accused.
