West Bengal Worker Brutally Murdered in Puri

A tragic incident unfolded in Puri on Tuesday night when a 35-year-old tiles mason from West Bengal was allegedly beaten to death with a hammer by his co-worker. The victim has been identified as Sheikh Nora Alam, who originally hailed from Midnapore district in West Bengal.

Background and Previous Disputes

According to officials from the Penthakata marine police station, Alam had been working in Puri for approximately one-and-a-half years. He had been specifically engaged at his current work site for the past three months. Police investigations reveal that Alam had experienced frequent arguments with a fellow labourer named Musharraf, primarily concerning work-related matters.

The Fatal Night and Immediate Aftermath

The situation turned violent on Tuesday night when a routine altercation escalated dramatically. Police stated that Musharraf allegedly attacked Alam with a hammer, resulting in immediate fatal injuries. Another labourer present at the site, Sheikh Firdaus, who was sleeping nearby, witnessed the aftermath and promptly informed the authorities.

Firdaus provided crucial information to investigators, revealing that the fatal fight erupted over an audio recording that Musharraf allegedly wanted Alam to delete. Following the brutal attack, Musharraf reportedly fled the spot after threatening Firdaus with a knife.

Police Response and Investigation

Teams from both the marine police and Talabania police station quickly reached the crime scene and initiated a joint inquiry into the matter. Law enforcement agencies have launched extensive efforts to trace and apprehend the accused, Musharraf, who remains at large. The investigation continues as authorities work to uncover all circumstances surrounding this tragic workplace violence incident.
