A youth was arrested by Shivkuti police in Prayagraj on Wednesday on charges of harassing a woman who was preparing for competitive exams and assaulting her. However, the accused was released on bail on the same day.
Details of the Incident
The complainant, a woman staying at a lodge on rent, alleged that the son of the lodge owner had been harassing her for the past 10 days. She further claimed that he made an abortive attempt to assault her on the night of May 18. When she refused to open the door, the accused allegedly locked her from outside, forcing her to call other lodge mates and relatives for help.
Investigation Underway
The police have registered a case and are conducting further investigations into the matter. The swift arrest and subsequent bail have raised concerns about the safety of women in rental accommodations.
