Youth shot dead during wedding in UP's Mirzapur

A 22-year-old youth was shot dead by unidentified assailants near a railway track during a wedding ceremony in Naribari village, Mirzapur district, on Friday night. The victim, identified as Ajay Raidas, had gone to attend the wedding of his relative Suraj.

Incident Details

According to Mirzapur ASP (City) Nitesh Singh, a named FIR has been lodged against Bundila, a resident of the same village, based on a complaint by the victim's father, Bhootnath Raidas. Bhootnath alleged that Bundila was attempting to encroach upon residential land adjacent to their house and had threatened to kill Ajay when opposed. The ASP confirmed that police teams have been deployed to arrest Bundila at the earliest.

Sequence of Events

Ajay had arrived at Naribari village on Friday evening for the wedding. While guests were engaged in the jaimala ceremony and feast, he was shot dead near the railway tracks, a short distance from the venue. The murder came to light when a wedding guest went near the railway track to relieve himself and discovered Ajay's body in a pool of blood. His alarm caused panic at the ceremony.
