A 22-year-old man was stabbed to death in Kerala's Kollam district on Sunday night after a dispute over motorcycle noise escalated into violence, according to police.
Incident details
The incident occurred around 9:30 pm in the Karunagappally area. The victim, identified as Arun, was confronted by a group of individuals who objected to the loud noise from his motorcycle's modified exhaust. An argument ensued, during which one of the suspects allegedly stabbed Arun.
Police said Arun was rushed to a nearby hospital but succumbed to his injuries. A case has been registered, and a manhunt is underway for the suspects.
Police investigation
Police have identified the main suspect as a local resident with a history of altercations. "The dispute started over the noise from the motorcycle's silencer. It quickly turned violent," a police officer said, speaking on condition of anonymity. Authorities are reviewing CCTV footage from the area.
Community reaction
Local residents expressed shock over the incident. "It's tragic that a minor argument led to such a loss of life," said a neighbor. The area has seen occasional noise complaints, but nothing of this magnitude. Police have increased patrols to prevent further violence.
