Trichy: The Trichy North Traffic Investigation Wing police have booked a 19-year-old mini truck driver following a serious accident on the Trichy-Chennai National Highway in the city on Saturday night. The collision left a two-wheeler rider and his pillion passenger with severe injuries.

Accident Details

Police identified the accused as P Vishal, a native of Krishnagiri district. According to police reports, Vishal was driving a mini truck towards Chennai when he allegedly rammed a two-wheeler near Sangeetha Hotel at Sanjeevi Nagar. The impact caused critical injuries to both individuals on the two-wheeler.

Victims and Injuries

The rider, V Prabakaran, 59, a resident of Subramaniapuram, sustained severe injuries to his right hand. The pillion rider, A Terasamalar, 36, suffered a leg fracture. Both victims were immediately rushed to a private hospital, where they were admitted for medical treatment. Their condition is reported to be stable but under observation.

Police Action

Upon receiving information, the Traffic North Investigation Wing police arrived at the accident spot and seized the mini truck. A case has been registered against the driver under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code and the Motor Vehicles Act. Preliminary inquiries suggest that the mini truck driver may have been driving recklessly, leading to the collision.
