281 Officer Cadets Commissioned at OTA Gaya's 28th Passing Out Parade
In a ceremony filled with pride and emotion, the Officers Training Academy (OTA) in Gaya held its 28th passing out parade on Saturday, commissioning 281 officer cadets into the Indian Army. The event, marked by traditional rituals and heartfelt moments, saw families beaming with joy as their children formally stepped into military service.
Ceremony Highlights and Awards
The parade featured the poignant pipping ritual, where parents affixed rank insignia on their children's shoulders, symbolizing their induction as officers. Lieutenant General Dhiraj Seth, General Officer Commanding-in-Chief of the Southern Command, congratulated the newly commissioned officers, urging them to uphold the values and traditions of the Indian Army. The cadets, comprising 253 male and 28 female officers, showcased their drill, coordination, and smart turnout during the parade.
Academy Under Officer Kuldeep received the coveted 'Sword of Honour' for being adjudged the best all-rounder. In the order of merit, Battalion Under Officer Aswin Kirupai was awarded the gold medal for standing first, Academy Under Officer Kuldeep received the silver medal for second place, and Battalion Cadet Adjutant Charan GV earned the bronze medal for third place. Gurez Company was honored with the 'Chief of Army Staff Banner' as the overall champion company.
Training and Values Emphasized
The parade marked the successful culmination of rigorous and transformational military training, reflecting OTA Gaya's commitment to excellence, discipline, and leadership, in line with its motto—'Shaurya, Gyan, Sankalp' (courage, knowledge, resolve). In his address, Lieutenant General Seth emphasized the importance of innovation, continuous knowledge upgrade, and adaptability in an evolving battlefield environment, while steadfastly upholding the core values of the Indian Army.
The newly commissioned officers included 253 from the Short Service Commission Technical Entry (Men) - 64th Course and 28 from the Short Service Commission Technical Entry (Women) - 35th Course. The event concluded with the traditional Antim Pag, followed by the Pipping Ceremony where stars were adorned on the officers' shoulders by family members, and a solemn oath of allegiance was administered. Colonel Pankaj Jain's Hindi commentary added to the success and entertainment of the occasion, making it memorable for all attendees.
