Panaji: The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) on Sunday demanded an immediate and complete waiver of inflated electricity bills and penalties imposed on consumers across Goa. The party also sought an apology from Power Minister Ramkrishna ‘Sudin’ Dhavalikar for his “Nakchepay” remark, calling it an insult to the common man. AAP stated that no people’s representative should make such statements against the very people who elect them.
Party Leaders Question Minister's Stance
Ponda AAP president Geetesh Naik questioned Dhavalikar’s contradictory stance of issuing refunds while simultaneously asking people to pay their bills in three installments. AAP vice-president Roque Mascarenhas and organisation secretary Prashant Naik highlighted that residents of Quepem, Canacona, Curtorim, Cortalim, Mapusa, and Pernem have received shockingly high bills. Several party functionaries and volunteers protested with black flags against Dhavalikar.
Continued Agitation Until Demands Met
The party’s senior vice president, Sandesh Teleikar-Dessai, said AAP will continue its agitation until the bills are waived and Dhavalikar apologises. Dessai also demanded an official notification confirming the waiver. AAP mahila wing president Mamata Maben said the inflated bills have placed an immense burden on households across the state.
