Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Wednesday defended the Ram temple trust against allegations of donation theft, asserting that the entire organization cannot be defamed for the actions of a few individuals. Speaking in Chitrakoot, he named Avinash Shukla as the prime accused in the case.
Adityanath's stance on the trust
Adityanath emphasized that the trust has been working transparently and that the alleged theft was an isolated incident. 'A handful of people cannot be allowed to tarnish the image of the entire temple trust,' he said, urging the public not to jump to conclusions.
Details of the theft
The controversy erupted after reports emerged that donation boxes at the Ram temple in Chitrakoot had been tampered with, leading to the disappearance of a significant amount of money. According to police sources, Avinash Shukla, a former employee of the trust, has been identified as the main suspect.
Investigation underway
Authorities have launched a thorough investigation into the matter. 'We are committed to ensuring that justice is served and the guilty are punished,' Adityanath said, adding that the trust is cooperating fully with the probe.
Political reactions
The incident has sparked political debate, with opposition parties demanding a deeper inquiry. However, Adityanath dismissed these calls, stating that the trust's reputation remains intact. 'This is a case of individual wrongdoing, not institutional failure,' he clarified.
The Ram temple trust, which manages the construction of the grand temple in Ayodhya, has faced scrutiny before, but Adityanath's remarks aim to restore public confidence. As the investigation progresses, all eyes remain on the legal proceedings against Shukla.
