CHENNAI: After a day-long hectic parleys, AIADMK on Wednesday ruled out "any support under any circumstances" to actor Vijay’s Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) to form a government in Tamil Nadu.
AIADMK's Firm Stance
"Under no circumstances is our party going to extend support to TVK. I am conveying this with the permission of our party general secretary, Edappadiyar (Edappadi K Palaniswami)," said party deputy general secretary K P Munusamy after emerging from an hours-long meeting chaired by Palaniswami at his camp office on Greenways Road.
He called the reports aired on news channels as "completely wrong information" and stated that the media was spreading misinformation suggesting that AIADMK would extend support to Vijay’s party.
Party's History and Leadership
"AIADMK is a massive people's movement. It was created by Puratchi Thalaivar (M G Ramachandran) and strengthened by Puratchi Thalaivi (J Jayalalithaa). The party has been effectively functioning under the leadership of our general secretary, Edappadiyar," he said, before leaving without answering any further questions.
The clarification comes amid speculation that AIADMK might back TVK in a bid to counter the ruling DMK alliance. However, the party has categorically denied any such move, reaffirming its independent political path.
